Lydia Sheckels

Chair

Lydia is Wescott’s Financial Advisory Group's Chief Investment Officer – Emeritus, Partner, Senior Investment Strategist and Senior Financial Advisor. Lydia was the 2015-2016 president of the NAPFA Northeast/Mid-Atlantic Region Board and was also a member of NAPFA’s Leadership Development Committee. She also served on the NAPFA University School of Practice Management, and was a member of the organization’s Speakers Bureau Content Review Committee.

She is past president of the Philadelphia Chapter of the International Association for Financial Planning and past president of the Estate and Financial Planning Council of Southern New Jersey. Former president of the South Jersey Chapter of the Society of Financial Service Professionals, she has served as an instructor for the Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) designation courses sponsored by the Society. Lydia has also served as a member of the Financial Planning Association’s (FPA) National Ethics Committee, charged with investigating complaints and enforcing the FPA Code of Ethics.

Karla McAvoy,

Chair-elect

As a Senior Financial Advisor and Principal, Karla focuses on providing financial planning services and retirement forecasts. Karla received her B.A. in Economics from the University of California at Davis and graduated with honors. She also received an MBA degree from Santa Clara University in 2001. She worked in the technology industry for about fifteen years, most recently for PeopleSoft, prior to becoming a financial planner. Karla works with families, young professionals, widows, and couples nearing and in retirement. Karla is also in charge of technology for the firm and is the Chief Compliance Offer.

Karla is an active member of both NAPFA and the FPA. She has served as a conference Chair for both organizations and continues for seek out ways to contribute and give back. She is also active in her community, volunteering time for her teenagers’ school activities and sports. When she has a free moment, Karla loves to read and watches more movies than she really should. She also enjoys travelling and is anxious to show her kids more of the world before they head off to college.

Jeff Jones,

Treasurer / Secretary

Jeff is a Director of Financial Planning at Longview Financial Advisors.

Before joining Longview, he spent 12 years working with the Department of Defense and NASA, designing, implementing and maintaining large computer systems. He enjoys working with families as they blend their financial and life goals.

He is a member of the Leadership Greater Huntsville Connect 19 and served as a volunteer for Connect 20 & 21.

Away from the office, Jeff enjoys spending time with his wife, Jamie, their three children, and their family dog, Rosa. He can often be found on a sporting field coaching soccer, baseball, and softball teams. Jeff is a college football fan, an adventurous eater, and sports a child-like love for Walt Disney World. In the Huntsville community, his primary volunteer causes include financial education and empowerment, as well as teaching and working with children and young adults to build character and values.

Kristy Archuleta,

NAPFA Consumer Representative

Dr. Kristy Archuleta is an Associate Professor in one of the nation’s premier financial planning programs at the University of Georgia and a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. Prior to joining the faculty at UGA in August 2018, she was an Associate Professor and Program Director of the Personal Financial Planning program at Kansas State University. Her research and teaching interests relate to financial therapy, couples and money, and effective mechanisms to improve financial and overall well-being. She is a co-founding board member and Past-President of the Financial Therapy Association, current Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Financial Therapy, and has co-edited two books: Financial Planning and Scales and Financial Therapy: Theory, Theory, Research, and Practice.

Dr. Archuleta has published numerous scholarly articles and been interviewed for national and international media outlets, including The New York Times, Investor Business Daily, Investment News, Investor Business Daily, CNBC, Glamour, CBS Money Watch, Parade, and NPR. She serves as a Hartford Funds Human Centric Insights Panelist as well as on the Editorial Boards for Financial Planning Review, Journal of Financial Planning, and Korean Financial Planning Review. Dr. Archuleta is a recipient of the Kansas State University College of Human Ecology Myers-Alford Outstanding Teaching Award and the Oklahoma State University College of Human Sciences Distinguished Alumna Award.

Sunit Bhalla

Sunit is the founder of OakTree Financial Planning, a fee-only firm based in Fort Collins, Colorado, that provides financial planning and investment management to engineers and other technology professionals.

Sunit received a Master of Science in Personal Financial Planning from the College for Financial Planning, a Master of Science in Computer Science from the University of Massachusetts, and a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from New Mexico State University. He previously worked as an R&D manager and software developer at Hewlett Packard and Agilent Technologies.

Sunit’s previous volunteer experience with NAPFA includes leading the Northern Colorado Study Group, serving on the Leadership Development Committee, serving on the Education committee, and speaking at five NAPFA conferences. As a Board member, Sunit will serve on the Leadership Development Committee and be a liaison to the Study Group Committee.

Wendy Hartman

Wendy Hartman, CFP® is President of Buckingham Strategic Wealth where she is responsible for providing strategic leadership, in conjunction with the Board and other firm leaders, that helps achieve the firm’s strategic priorities. Her role is to drive organic growth and ensure the effective delivery of the client experience, along with the advisor experience, through a robust operational infrastructure. After decades of working as a wealth advisor, Wendy is proud to lead Buckingham Strategic Wealth as they continue to safeguard their clients’ lives.

Wendy has enduring passion for the industry and recognizes that “NAPFA’s role in the financial planning profession is to be a relentless advocate for the fee-only community through consumer awareness, education and partnerships”. She is enthusiastic about her new role as a NAPFA Board member.

Amy Irvine

Amy Irvine, CFP® is the Founder/Owner of Rooted Planning Group. Amy has had varied experiences in her financial career and successfully transitioned to opening her own firm, the Rooted Planning Group in 2016. She currently serves on the Finance Committee for Fund for Women of the Southern Tier, the Endowment Committee for ART's Council of the Southern Finger Lakes, and the Corning-Painted Post Historical Society and has previously served on the board

for Faith-in-Action Steuben County, the and on the Human Ecology Committee for Cornell Cooperative Extension.

Amy remains dedicated to having more diversity in the profession empowered through education as evidenced by her involvement with the NAPFA Education Committee and previous tenure with the XYPN Diversity Committee. She is looking forward to becoming a member of the NAPFA Board and believes Leadership isn't about one action or one person, but “how a group of individuals can collaborate to grow.”

Anjali Jariwala

Anjali Jariwala, CFP®, CPA is Founder of FIT Advisors. Her career began in corporate tax, where she spent 7 years working with Fortune 500 clients at PricewaterhouseCoopers. She transitioned into financial planning, starting at a prestigious RIA before launching her own firm, FIT Advisors in 2016.

The firm primarily works with physicians and business owners on financial planning, investment management and tax planning. Anjali is passionate about expanding diversity and inclusion in the industry as well as empowering Gen X professionals by helping them discover and attain their life goals through a stable financial future. Following through on her convictions, Anjali currently serves on NAPFA’s Diversity & Inclusion Steering Committee and is particularly excited about the group’s efforts towards NAPFA becoming a thought leader in this vital area. She believes “a variety of thoughts and opinions will really help drive the organization forward” and is enthusiastic about becoming a NAPFA Board member and contributing to the association’s future.

Daphne Jordan

Daphne Jordan, CFP® is an advisor at Pioneer Wealth Management Group dedicated to fee-only financial planning. Daphne has successfully combined her desire to help others with her ability to develop strategic financial plans. She particularly enjoys helping clients create, implement and monitor their financial blueprint to support their ongoing and future needs.

As previous Austin FPA President and Co-founder and Co-chair of the NAPFA’s Diversity & Inclusion initiative, clear vision is important to her.

In each capacity, she has helped expand programs to include education and networking opportunities. This career-changer cares for others. Daphne believes in, “being relational” and feels “that investing in others reap the best benefits.” It is her delight to serve you on the NAPFA Board.

Kristen Moosmiller

As founder and managing partner of NorthAvenue Financial Advocates, Kristen has developed a team that specializes in working with the next generation of clients. Multiple generations within families call NorthAvenue their financial planning ally.

She is also a member of FPA of Central Ohio (Financial Planning Association), NAWBO Columbus (National Association of Women Business Owners), and ACP (Alliance of Comprehensive Planners). She twice served as president of her regional FPA chapter, is a founder of a nationally recognized Generation–Y advisor peer group, and served on the NAPFA national committee for CFP® Practice Standards that worked to shape nationwide fiduciary standards for CFP®s. In 2016, Kristen was selected from more than 800 entrants to receive the prestigious “Top 40 Advisors under 40” award from InvestmentNews.

​Kristen graduated cum laude from Xavier University in Cincinnati, where she majored in finance and marketing.

Kristen, her husband Jeff, and their cats Bella and Mac live in Westerville, OH. They share time together enjoying the outdoors, and with more than 30 countries visited they are avid travelers.

Danielle Seurkamp

Danielle Seurkamp is the Principal and Founder of Well Spent Wealth Planning in Cincinnati, Ohio. She advises and supports individuals and families at all stages of life. Her passion is to help people achieve and enjoy financial success by making the best use of their financial and non-financial resources. She has a Master’s Degree in Financial Planning and maintains three professional certifications as a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERTM, a Master Planner Advanced Studies®, and a Certified Financial Behavioral Specialist®.

Prior to joining the Board of Directors, Danielle served on a NAPFA Conference Planning Committee, the Education & Professional Development Committee, as a book reviewer for NAPFA Advisor Magazine, as a panel speaker, as a volunteer for NAPFA/Kiplinger Maximize Your Money Days and she was honored with the 2017 NAPFA New Professional Award. She also volunteers for the Greater Cincinnati Foundation as a grant reviewer and founded a financial wellness program for Cincinnati’s Center for Respite Care to help people reestablish financial security and transition out of homelessness. She has been featured in the Wall Street Journal, Kiplinger, TD Advisor Solutions, Financial Planning Magazine, Nasdaq, CNBC, MSN Money, Yahoo Finance, ThinkAdvisor, and Investopedia.
