NCEF - About Us

In 2005, a group of NAPFA members explored ways to help Americans better understand the current financial environment. They identified several issues that were negatively impacting Americans at that time:

  • Much of the information available on the Internet was developed by companies trying to sell financial products, rather than provide unbiased information.
  • The abundance of information available about financial products was creating greater confusion.
  • Deceptive practices by some advisors were pushing consumers to purchase products that were not in their best interest.

A group of NAPFA members formed the NAPFA Consumer Education Foundation (NCEF), a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, as a direct result of these issues. NCEF supports Fee-Only financial advisors in providing objective financial guidance to consumers on a pro-bono basis.

NCEF and many Fee-Only, financial advisors across the country are helping to ensure consumers have access to objective information and advice from trustworthy sources. NCEF provides consumers with information and tools, so that they can make decisions with confidence.

Hundreds of people across the country have been empowered by NCEF to make changes that help them realize their personal financial goals and live the life they dream.
